I finally bought an iRobot for Christmas- I don't know why I waited so long. It is amazing! I have it set to vacuum every morning. I still clean as well, but this little guy gets everywhere and picks up the dog hair that used to drive me nuts!Received an iRobot Roomba as a gift. For several minutes it banged into all sorts of things and kept vacuuming the same area over and over until we moved it somewhere else. We had just cleaned the house so we were curious how much dirt and dust was in the little collection bin. By the way, the collection bin is not very big so you will be emptying it many many times. Anyway, when looking inside the dustbin, we could see fine pieces of our carpet. We immediately went online and discovered these machines should NOT be used on Berber carpeting as they will ruin the weave of the carpet. IRobot had NO such warning about this in their advertising, nor on the box, nor in the operating manual. We paid a lot of money for our new carpeting, and it would have been sickening to find it had been ruined by this little maniacal machine. Tip for consumers:We received this as a gift, so we gave it back to the giver. Don't know how the return process went, whether there was an issue or not.Had problems with the cleaning heads. Left bad reviews on here. Opened up my email to write another review to iRobot. And found that they did respond to me and sent me almost $500 in parts to replace the ones on two of my vacuums. I was very impressed. Nothing bad to say about him anymore. Tip for consumers:Run. Do not buy. Wait for the technology to get better. This vacuum is a practical tool that will actually clean floors on a single level. Our family members use the programmable options to schedule cleaning, whereas, we manually send the vacuum to different rooms. It picks up all dust and crumbs and easily transitions from a wood floor, to a carpeted floor, to and it a tile floor. Included is a sensor that should be positioned by lower level stairs to prevent it from falling. It navigates around and through chairs. It picks up the fuzzy stuff in the carpet where the trim and carpet meet; this is a work saver. We do have to periodically remove strings and fibers from the brushes underneath the iRobot. If I were a business owner I would never carry this "thing" in my inventory. It does work on perfectly smooth floors. Area rugs with any height other than being REALLY THIN totally defeat it. It either goes around or gets stuck. My machine "died" in two days and the battery wouldn't take a charge again. I was so disgusted I smashed it and threw it in the trash where it belongs. Caveat emptor!Technology just keep getting better. I have both the roomba and scooba. One vacuums, and the other washes the floors. They make cleaning so much easier.
