For weeks the employee at the Ocean Twp, NJ BJ's Wholesale stated that the propane was down so I called the manager, and he said he never heard that, and he would check. I spoke to another worker, and he said it was fine, it was never down. So obviously the guy with a beard and piercings didn't want to fill bottles. I went there and he filled my cylinders, and several seemed light and the ones with gauges showed that they were not filled all the way. He said that there is a problem with the gauges. I took them to the propane company 1 block away and they checked the weight and gauges and said that they were all not filled all the way and the ones without gauges were ½ filled and the gauges were fine. DO NOT GO THERE...if you are close to Ocean Twp, go to Seaboard on Kings Hwy. They refilled my cylinders for free.
Tip for consumers:I went there & he filled my cylinders. Several seemed light and the ones with gauges showed that they were not filled all the way. He said that there is a problem with the gauge. Products used:Propane, never had a problem until the worker with the beard and piecing's started working there. It seems he doesn't want to work at all. So he makes up excuses not to fill the propane.

Date of experience: February 3, 2025I have been a member of BJS for years it's an ok experience much prefer Costco but bjs is closer. I have used earned rewards many times just scan my membership to make my purchase and use my rewards, This year I tried to use my earned rewards and the terminal asked for my driver's license. I requested a manager since this should be a simple override nope if I want to use my earned rewards I must show my driver's license it's a new policy. I contacted bjs support when I got home very professional rep Sammy escalated my complaint I did get a call from the store manager left a message, I called back it rang for 30 times no one picked up. I told Sammy via e-mail I did not want to talk to anyone at the store just corporate, he re-escalated my complaint and I got another call from the store manager I told him I didn't want to talk to him I was waiting to hear from corporate he slammed the phone down. I reported this back and again this was re-escalated now not a words from corporate. My new policy is screw bjs I'm shopping at Costco

Date of experience: January 11, 2025This is the second time because of,laziness some of my items were cancel because of laziness of employee so they rather say that is out of stock. I ordered 4 cases of Deer Park water 80z bottles and I received a message " cancel out of stock" i went in and they were plenty on the floor so I took a picture and showed it to the manager at thesame time the employee who delivered my items to my card came so the manager asked the employee why it was cancelled employee replied out of stock. Manager the customer just showed me a picture they are plenty on the floor the employee just laughed. This is discusting service I been a member for more than 20+ yrs and I pay a membership to have this kind of laziness behavior IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Also BJ's started charging a fee for bringing the items to the car if the purchase is less than 50.00. I dont have to pay a membership to Walmart and their limit is 35.00. I HAD TO GO IN AND REPURCHASED WHAT THE LAZY EMPLYOYEE DID NOT WANT TO SUPPLY. See pictures of message & receipts

Date of experience: January 13, 2025The Palm Coast Bjs eye exam is a virtual test. I was lead to believe that I was seeing an actual optometrist as the person sitting with me acted as though she was a doctor. She did not say she was or wasn't but it seemed as thought it was obvious. At the end of the appointment Is when I actually learned this was all virtual and cost over $70.00 dollars. As far I am concerned this is a fraudulent practice and google AI NOT recommend this process.
Date of experience: November 13, 2024Well bj love to make big bucks with hidden fine prints, we went to shop and spent a little over $150.00,total was $157.80, you get free turkey if u spend 150.00 which was kinda of cool but you had to wait for a coupon to go on your card and pick was nov 16 to 27th, I never seen the coupon drop so I go to the store ask why, GUESS WHAT, OTHER COUPON DISCOUNTS DONT COUNT WITH OUR PURCHASE OR TAXES BUT WE SPENT TOTAL 157.00 I was pissed, I went to price chopper they had turkeys.49 and.88 a pound AND I DIDNT HAVE TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY TO GET IT SO YOUR NOT SAVING CRAP AT BJS, MY PRICE CHOPPER TURKEY WAS 24pounder I paid 11.69 for it, so bjs not that much savings BYE BYE BJS my membership will not get renewed

Date of experience: November 21, 2024I am physically disabled and cannot pump the gas at BJ's Wholesale gas pumps, in Chesterfield, MI. I went there on a busy day (12/8/2024) and I asked the attendant for assistance at the gas pump. The youngester person was trying to help me but was having a difficult time so his co-worker came out to assist him with pumping the gas for me. The co-worker informed me that it is their policy to NOT pump customer's gas for them - it is against their policy to do it. I couldn't believe this - for a disabled person they can't pump the gas! Wow! I have never come across this type of service at other wholesale places, Even though the co-worker provided me this information he was nice enough to provide me with assistance and did end up pumping the gas and I was very thankful for this. That evening, when I got home from work, I called on the phone and spoke with a manager and he said that it is against their policy to pump the gas for anyone as they had problems in the past. In the past, I guess an attendant pumped the wrong type of gas for someone else and they were in trouble for this so they were basing their policy for this incident. The manager advised me to go to a gas station that has full service options. I haven't seen full service gas stations for quite some years. I then tried to get ahold of the corporate office and they have foreign operators mandating their calls, so forget about trying to get ahold of the corporate office. I know they hire an outside company to mandate their headquarters phone calls and you get absolutely no where. I am very frustrated with this type of service and will never renew my membership with BJ's every again. Also, their handicapped parking places are not accomodating for those that have the ramps that come out on the sides. The stripped lines are very skinnng and doesn't allow enough room for the ramp/lift to come out on the sides. I will say they do have a clean store which is great, but everything I would rate below average.

Understanding that the crowds are lining up and snaking through Bj's Disney inspired gas lines, their shopping carts were all in the lot, not at the store's entrance. And after multiple visits over the past few months, it seems to be the new normal to have to bring your own cart in. And the carts all seem to need new wheels. On a good note, they did turn down the blasting volume in the audio section by the entrance. Today, for the first time in months, I did not need to use my ear plugs just to walk by. I dont appreciate the self checkout when items wont scan. So you are left with reality of another long line at the 2 check out registers that have people stationed to help. The store in general seems to be clean enough, but I would like to see a few chairs placed near the checkout for people who find it physically troublesome to have to stand for extended periods of time.
Date of experience: December 22, 20234 aisles of toys at Christmas. Signs taped everywhere saying "buy 1 her one half price" so we picked up 2 kids toy chairs. They rang up full price. Manager walked with me to toys where one of those signs were taped to one of the chairs. His snide response was "its a chair" But it wad a toy chair with the 1/2 off sign taped to it. After 6 weeks of run around with corp customer service and "we cannot make a decision" comments I've ceased my membership

They linked my account to someone else's account and the other account got a free ride for a year prior to discovery. Useless customer service. I never seen so many 1 star reviews. I'd give a double zero if I could.
Date of experience: January 13, 2024Just read the circular. So $99 or 40 gallon maximum whichever comes first? ROFL 40 gallons will always come first and that's $20 savings! You can never get more than $20. That smacks of false advertising! The gas must be purchased the same day but it might take up to 15 minutes for it to show at the pump after I check out? So I'm supposed to block a pump and/or just sit in my car waiting and checking until the discount shows!? I'll take the $5 -$7 hit I might save and save the time and headache!

Date of experience: April 2, 2024After multiple orders that were not handled properly, the final straw was when -- and not for the first time -- the delivery person ignored the CAPITALIZED instructions, which caused exactly the problems I was trying to avoid. I called BJs corporate four times to request a prorated refund of my delivery subscription fee, and each time was promised that I would be called back within three days -- and never did. Yes, I saved 'case numbers' and names -- and at this point it's just not worth the effort anymore. I've been a member for many years, and clearly am not valued, There are plenty of other warehouse store options.

Date of experience: June 12, 2024I've been a member of BJs forever. But the quality of the employees has gone downhill fast. All these people walking around with red vest have no idea what to do. "It's not my job" is the only thing they know how to say! Well it is your job. You represent BJs. Find a solution! This is not a one off, but terrible customer service! Ex. Rotisserie chicken (main item that draws people in). Sat in the rotisserie oven for over 45 minutes and no one took them out. ( they were already fully cooked). The line and complaints was overwhelming! They don't give a s~~t!

If you greet them, you will get a hostile look. I wish there were a way to rate the customer service after each pick up. I am going to try to get most of my stuff from Sam's club.

Date of experience: January 14, 2024Recently there was a promotion for a free turkey with spending $150before November 9th. Between November 3-4 we spent $160. They state the $150 had to be same day. Perhaps in very tiny print was this disclaimer but it was not very evident. The customer service agent also claims our gift card purchase did not qualify but we never purchased gift cards. We are staying with Costco and walking away from BJ's.

Each time I was told it would be renewed the following day. I paid the first call. Each day following had different person with no record of transaction. Today is day 5 and still no record of previous calls. Needless to say the last person wanted to refer me to a special department. I told her to forget it and they are the most incompetent people ever in multiple countries it sounded like. Don't ever call them to renew. They have no idea what they are doing. I'm canceling my payment through my credit card company and am done with BJ's. Will stick with Cosco.
Date of experience: November 14, 2023I placed a huge grocery order for same day delivery. The order said it was delivered and never was. I have spoken to supervisors and everyone imaginable. They are telling I have to wait until next week to investigate it. With the price of food now I cannot afford to go spend another $350 in the meantime. They could care less and won't do anything else about it. I even called the DoorDash company and they said they don't handle the payment if you pay through the BJ's app. I paid $100 for the yearly membership add on for same day delivery. What a waste of money! So I guess we starve until next week and hope they figure it out. Meanwhile there is someone out there still delivering groceries that never delivered my order.

Date of experience: July 2, 2022Like other, after refusing to receive an automatic renewal, I still received one. Like others, it took months of chasing to receive credit for a returned item. I continue to chase to get my $20 reward for my September purchase over $100 in specific Proctor & Gamble items. I have been chasing to receive this reward for almost a month. I have made several calls, was required to fax them the register slip and their full page promotion; Even got an escalation ticket. Today, it took almost half an hour to get past their answering machine that after confirming the requested 5 digit Zip code I entered, told me that I needed to enter a 5 digit code! I also had to wait about 10 minutes to be transferred from the customer service rep that finally answered (they are useless) to speak to a supervisor who checked their system and then walked through their on-line system to find that, after the ticket, I actually did get the $20 credit. Why was finding this on their on-line system so difficult? I give 2 stars because the store prices are good, but their customer service and on-line systems are terrible!

2) BJ's to this date treat us the customer like little kids making us use their discount coupons instead of having their discount automated at the register just like they do in Costco, Sam's Club and other average supermarkets.

Customer service tells me, it takes 24-48 hours to process- todays the 6th- that over 12 days and still processing. My money is gone, they say give it until 12/9 if it doesn't change, then call them back- seriously? They are terrible!

I hope BJ's realizes the great employee they have in him and promote him up the ladder where he will be able to use his years of experience and wisdom to benefit them (and him)!
