Blue Nile Review
I recently purchased two wedding rings from Blue Nile, having them shipped all the way to London from the United States. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. Upon receiving the rings, I noticed that the bride's ring had a noticeable black mark on the inside—something that should have been caught during a proper inspection before shipping.
When I contacted customer service, the options they provided were far from satisfactory. They offered to send the ring back for repair, but this would take an unacceptable two months, leaving me close to my wedding abroad in the Philippines with no guarantee of having the ring in time. Their other options were just as disappointing: either accept a refund for the flawed ring, which would leave me with one unmatched ring, or pay out of pocket to have it repaired by a local jeweler in London.
Given the distance this ring had to travel, it's frustrating that Blue Nile did not take the necessary care to ensure everything was perfect. The lack of a viable solution and the long wait for repairs have left me deeply unsatisfied. I expected better quality control and customer service from a company with such a reputation, especially when dealing with something as important as wedding rings.

Date of experience: September 13, 2024I purchased a blue nile wedding band and everything went well until a few weeks in when it got scratched. It's a tungsten band, but I figured I'd live with it. Then after only having the ring for three years it has cracked. There was a lifetime guarantee when I bought the band and free repairs. Blue Nile is unable to honor either of those commitments. I am severely disappointed in their customer service and the quality of the ring. They no longer sell the particular band on the website, so I assume they realized it was a flawed product—which I hate to say because it's my wedding band and has a great deal of sentimental value for me.
Tip for consumers:Definitely don’t buy anything from these frauds

Date of experience: April 4, 2024They trick you in buying their products, take your money and then do not ship for the prior discussed and promised shipping date. Prices seem to be good but this whole thing is like a scam. Poor sales people in the blue nile shops that have to sell this scam. STAY AWAY and buy local from your store!
Tip for consumers:STAY AWAY. This company is scam, takes your money and then cannot deliver as promised. Again, STAY AWAY

Date of experience: December 22, 2023We have purchased jewelry from Blue Nile in the past, including our wedding rings. The past 3 purchases we made online stated, "IN STOCK" with a promised delivery date. On each delivery date, Blue Nile states shipment is delayed. Two to three weeks later, we get an email from them stating the items are unavailable and a refund will be issued at a later time. Having to wait at least 3 weeks to get our $6,400+ refund is not acceptable. Blue Nile has lost its reputation and we no longer recommend them to our friends. We highly recommend James Allen, Brilliant Earth, or David Yurman for reliability and quality.
Date of experience: December 18, 2023I bought anniversary ring for $1300 marked down from $3,200 original sales price. I knew it wasn't worth $3200 buy thought u was getting a good deal. A few weeks later the sale ended and the ring was still marked at $1300. I can't help but feel mislead by this false pricing sales tactic.
Tip for consumers:False advertised

Date of experience: October 17, 2023Always excellent customer service from Blue Nile. I wouldn't normally order online for fine jewelry but for Blue Nile, they have proven to me over the years -- from my first diamond ring to the everyday / special occasion accessories I purchased in between, and eventually to the maintenance and checkup I needed for my diamond ring -- that they are a very reliable and dependable company. Date of experience: August 29, 2022My boyfriend purchased a diamond necklace for my birthday. He bought it early and gave it to me on birthday. When I tried it, the necklace was too tight and I wanted to exchange it. I explained to the customer representative that my neck is chubbier and I wanted to exchange it for something else that actually fit me. I was a few days after the return policy and she said if I had called one day earlier I would've been able to but since I was late I would have to pay 20% restocking fee. I think it's ridiculous that people spend so much money on this site and this is their customer service. Til this day I have an expensive diamond necklace that's sitting in my drawer that I can never wear.
Tip for consumers:Buy somewhere else who has more compassion for their customers that offer an exchange policy without a 20% restocking fee. I literally would've had to pay for being big and something not fitting me.
Products used:Nothing because I'm a bigger girl and the necklace couldn't fit around my neck

Date of experience: August 3, 2022I bought a necklace from BN. The matching earrings had been discontinued, but I found them on another site, in perfect condition. The first necklace sent was the wrong one. Thinking this mistake was a fluke, I sent the necklace back and ordered another. Again, the wrong necklace was sent. To make matters worse, BN would not agree that the wrong necklace was sent... twice... but finally confirmed that I was right. By this time, the necklace was on backorder. One date after another passed... while the return window for the earrings had closed. Finally, the necklace was discontinued. Customer Service provided the usual platitudes. One even told me to look for the necklace on Claires.com! I sent a letter to the CEO of BN, Sean Kell. No reply... after about a month.
Date of experience: November 1, 2022Bought a ring, received it and had to resize it. Nightmare began...4 months to receive it back.
In this timeframe, I paid import duties on the first shipment, import duties to send it back into USA (due to BlueNile missing information on shipping documents), finally import taxes again on the third shipment to get the new ring (again BlueNile responsibility).
In all of this, BlueNile customer care team replied emails for the sake of replying, they couldn't care less nor moved a finger to help with any of this.
I'm do disappointed I bought from these unprofessional people. Stay away for your own peace!
Tip for consumers:Only when you threaten to cancel and order someone will speed up things. Horrible service, horrible shipment management, horrible everything !!!

Date of experience: November 8, 2023Robert was such an amazing help in trying to find the perfect diamond for our setting. It's lovely and we are very happy. I actually would never think of buying another diamond from any place but from blue Nile
Date of experience: May 18, 2021My husband has bee surprising me with Blue Nile diamonds since 2009! I am always so pleased with the quality of the diamonds as well as the settings. I have 4 rings, a pair of studs, hoops and a beautiful pendant. Blue Nile's customer care and service team is top notch too!
I've had my rings appraised for insurance purposes and my appraisals have all come back for a much higher replacement value than we spent.
I will forever refer friends and family to Blue Nile!

Date of experience: June 9, 2021I purchased these pearl ear rings for my girlfriend that was about to graduate Nursing School. She loved them! She wanted for Nursing photos and Graduation. She wears them nonstop. Looked at Tiff., these are incredible and flawless, priced much better and still received with a beautiful presentation box. Thanks again!
Tip for consumers:Everything was as expected and wonderful.

Date of experience: June 14, 2021So disappointed that the item I purchased in April, and now being asked to review, has still not been sent due to further delays!
No solution was offered, or discount to purchase another item, due to delay being "on their suppliers end". I now have to buy another item for my daughter's birthday!
Don't rely on Blue Nile for time sensitive items.

Date of experience: June 9, 2021Very poor service. We ordered a ring and suddenly after 2 days it's "out of stock" very very unprofessional, very poor service.
NOT RECOMMEND to do business with that kind of low and poor standards of service.

Date of experience: May 31, 2022I purchased a 3 prong emerald ring. 2 months later and very little wear, the center stone fell out. Customer service was not very amenable to sending a return postage label, due to this was beyond 30 days. I sent it USPS and now it is lost! I have purchased jewelry in the past but, never had a problem.
Now that I have, I would not be comfortable with the customer service.
Date of experience: August 13, 2021I would start with the good part and why I enjoyed browsing the company's offers.
I was looking for earrings but couldn't understand whether the sizing would be good.
I have contacted the customer service and was pleased to receive the real pictures of the requested models (1 day).
Later I have consulted the support on the resale value and decided to go for diamond studs with platinum material.
Now comes the part that I didn't quite like.
The website clearly shows a specific type of lock which I wanted (picture 1 and 2 for reference)
However, I received a different type of lock with my purchase.
The customer service came back to me quickly, which I greatly appreciate, and explained that the aspired type comes only for diamond studs 1 t. Ct. W. (My purchase is 0.70 t. Ct. W)
Now what do I think? I was offered to get another type of lock for 130$ (my purchase was 1800$ for D VVSII Ideal cut) but I am not willing to pay on top as simply it was a gift for myself and already a purchase big enough.
If the company put it clearly, so that the customers could see this information, this would be fair. I don't feel that it's very honest, as I cannot know the company's policy as a first time buyer.
My earrings came with a full set of documents, including 2 GIA certificates and an appraisal report. The diamonds are fantastic, and I believe that the service and the quality is really really good.
I am happy with my studs and I will be glad to order from them in the future!
The delivery took only 3 days and was regularly updated on the website (also huge plus).
Tip for consumers:My advice is if you order something, make sure to ask the details (all possible) in advance.
For example, make sure to clarify the model, the sizing, the frame, the types of stones (note-look for more than only 4Cs in the reports).

Date of experience: September 30, 2022I purchased this as a gift for my daughter. A month into wearing the chain gave out and she almost lost the pendant. I am shocked at such low quality. For the price, this is unacceptable
Awaiting a response from Blue Nile.

Date of experience: May 11, 2021The ring is beautiful. The process was painless. As the 30+ days drew to an end, the ring went on sale for $500 cheaper. The company would not honor the refund. This saddened me and made the experience a little less sweet.
Date of experience: June 9, 2021I have purchased many pieces of jewelry from Blue Nile over the years and had been very satisfied. However the last purchased i made was for a ring in which they claimed that if the sizing was incorrect they would fix it for free. This is what has ended my relationship with Blue Nile because that was completely untrue and they treated my wife horribly when she called to get it sized correctly. I called them myself very aggravated and was blown off by Blue Nile customer service for over a week. When they finally called me back they just told me they would not help me and I told them that I would no longer be a customer. They were fine with that... Unlike Blue Nile, I am a man of my word and haven't purchased from them since, but I will tell you my wife looks stunning in the jewelry I just bought her for our anniversary, her birthday and Mother's day from another provider. Your loss Blue Nile, NOT mine!

Date of experience: May 11, 2021I waited way over the recommended time for the package. I made numerous calls to Blue Nile agents to trace the package, to no avail. The package disappeared off grid, then suddenly reappeared. Clearly Blue Nile lost control of the process and the experience was stressful and upsetting as the package arrived after Valentines Day.
Date of experience: May 31, 2021A purchase (and eventual return) I made for Valentine's Day was my last from Blue Nile. When I started shopping at Blue Nile, the quality of the products, service, and price were outstanding. I really felt like a valued customer and as a result, I made all my jewelry purchases from Blue Nile. Recently, the quality of the products has deteriorated along with the customer service and price. I was shocked by the low quality and value of the earrings I recently bought (along with the quality of value of other recent purchases) and was further disappointed by how unfriendly the customer service representative was. I don't shop at Blue Nile any more.

Date of experience: June 15, 2021What ever you do don't ever trust Blue Nile with a time sensitive important event! They completely will fail you! I paid for a custom ring for my 25th Anniversary and it arrived a week late and Blue Nile DIDN'T CARE AT ALL! This was not my first purchase from them, but it will be my last! Don't make the same mistake!
Tip for consumers:Avoid Blue Nile at all costs!

Date of experience: May 11, 2021My husband purchased a $600 platinum bracelet for me. It chipped and at that point I found out it was plated silver. The bracelet was not platinum at all. I contacted blue nile and they refused to offer any type of reconcilitation. They talked to me on the phone twice. They said that I found a bracelet that looked like theirs and it was not the one they sent me. They shipped the same bracelet back to me with an invoice saying it was a platinum bracelet AGAIN and when I opened the box it was the same one I had before They didn't even have the guts to tell me they weren't going to do anything about sending me the wrong bracelet. This is complete BS. If you purchase anything from there take it to a jeweler to get it tested to make sure it is real.
Date of experience: October 1, 2010I would give zero stars if I could.
Blue Nile ruined my ring!
I bought engagement ring from Blue Nile in July 2021 for around £1600.
I have raised concerns at the time about two visible lines on the back of the ring, that look like the ring has been resized. Blue Nile offered to pay for it to be sent back. I refused as that time was busy with my Wedding planning.
Last month May 2022 I contacted Blue Nile to ask if the offer to be repaired still stands. Answer was yes, I also mentioned how the ring head was not right for the actual ring and the prongs were too large and covering areas of the diamond.
A customer rep. Suggested they can change the ring head to the original gallery bar head which would have smaller prongs.
I hesitated as I was not convinced that the craftsmanship was very good, but went with it.
The ring was resized and head setting changed and this was done for free.
When I receive the ring last week I was shocked to see they have completely ruined my ring. The new gallery bar is bulging out on the sides of the diamond, it doesn't sit flush and the metal is not polished and bent where the bars are. It looked like a complete amateur job. The diamond was dirty with inclusions in places I never seen before and assumed it was damaged too in the process of resetting.
Now the ring has been sent back and after the quality assessment team concluded the repair had met the Blue Nile standards, which I completely disagree with. Blue Nile asks me to pay for the ring head to be changed to a better suited for the diamond four claw ring head with talon prongs.
I have sent images and explained to more than one rep. That my diamond is more rounded compared to more elongated or square cushion cut, it has no sharp edges like the princess cut, that it does not suit this setting. Blue Nile experts failed to advise that this was unsuitable setting and it was not as what they emailed me, the way it was advertised on their website.
I demanded full refund as I have zero confidence Blue Nile are capable or competent of fixing the damaged ring. One of their managers was supposed to call and they have not.
Feel completely devastated and in tears over this situation.
Photos after and before the botched job.
Tip for consumers:Avoid Blue Nile, you are not saving money!! Save your sanity. Avoid this company.
