Straight Talk Review
Straight talk should be defunded. Don't even try. Try to sell your phone. I recently got told off violently by a "supervisor" through straight talk from the Philippines after being on the phone for two hours trying to get resolution. Leave straight talk. This guy sounded like a thug. I actually feel frightened for my life. And reporting seems to do nothing. I reported to fcc and BBB, nothing. They will abuse you and do nothing about it.

Date of experience: December 9, 2024Every month for last 4 everytime add prepaid card thru the ******* says can't do call customer service. I call them they can't do keep saying they will fix. They will put into reserve, sometimes works after expiration date. This process takes 25-40+ min on phone with them ea time! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, each time say oh it will be fixed. Next month comes same problem. Each time they say need to fix account, give mmei # all these hoops, call back on another phone to trouble shoot It's infuriating. Today 2nd person talked to promised be fixed and send me text with balance enddate etc... So far nothing no text nothing. So now pins and needles if phone no cell in morning...

Date of experience: September 30, 2024Let's take action
After having problems with Straight Talk, and reading the reviews, it is obvious that they (with a few exceptions) will only go so far to help. If the problem is much harder than a reboot or changing a few settings, then their answer is to frustrate the customer until the customer gives up.
Well, let's not give in. Keep after them as much as possible. Write to the FCC and your state AG with a complaint. Contact the maker of your phone. Their reputation is also on the line. Are there any lawyers that want to start a class action suit? Any other suggestions?

Date of experience: July 25, 2024Very poor warranty service. Terrible phone representatives constantly apologizing for wait times. Buying a warranty is basically pointless. Support lines are just terrible and it took 1.5 hours just to get a shipping label that I still have not received. It has been 10 days after they indicated I would wait 3-5 days for a label/package to get sent to my door. I had to call 3 times and even did an online chat. I had to buy another phone because these people are completely useless! I was transfered to a higher up technician and they did not have the tools to help me there either. I had to give them my number 3 times on one phone call. So pathetic. It has been 12 days I still don't have a shipping label or an email for the third time.

“Straight Talk Wireless does not work”
June 10th, 2024
It appears that Straight Talk wireless is a complete ripoff. I have no working phone. This is the second cell phone I have purchased in 6 months. Neither phone will activate. Both phone claim to be made by tracfone but then say they work with T-Mobile or StraightTalk Wireless. Walmart Corporation sold me one phone and Dollar General sold me the other phone. I still am with NO working phone. I will not provide proof of purchase because I will not share my personal banking information on sitejabber.
Tip for consumers:It would be nice to obtain a new cell phone. I have gone without one for months now and am 100 percent disabled. This shows that Walmart, Straight Talk Wireless, and Tracfone do not want disabled persons to have cell phones, in my opinion.
Products used:None. Neither cell phone will activate. I have purchased two cell phones and neither one will activate. I asked to keep my old number and tracfone refused to activate the first phone. I asked to change my number with the second phone and Straight Talk Wireless, sold through Walmart Corporation to me at my home address (and Walmart knows my zip code) and sold me a phone with "no service" in my area, according to StraightTalk website.

Date of experience: June 1, 2024The worst customer service on the planet. Customer service reps speak English but frequently not well enough that they follow a conversation. Cannot solve problems and do not escalate to someone who can. Additionally straight talk prices have become average at best. Avoid this terrible company.

Date of experience: February 20, 2024Had several issues after a few months with connectivity with a new phone purchased from them. Useless customer service with cookie cutter answers which knew less about cellphones than an average 16 yr old. After wasting 6 hrs on the phone they elevated the case to a supervisor in another God forsaken country that kept wanting me to reset and restart my phone for another 2 hrs. Then told me the carrier is updating my info and wait another 24 hrs. After 15 hrs on the phone, I just switched to tello and my phone runs flawlessly

Date of experience: January 23, 2024I've had Straighttalk for over a decade. Never a dropped call. Excellent service, unlimited data. Now that Verizon has bought the company, it's a struggle most days to get a signal. This is not coincidence. ST accessed the nearest available towers; primarily AT&T and Verizon, as well as some smaller carriers. The point is, if coverage from an AT&T tower was limited during peak traffic times, your signal would be picked up by another available tower. Now, all we've got is Verizon; and my connection has never been crappier. Because when all you have are the towers of one greedy corporation, you not only lose the luxury of access, you are low priority to a carrier with customer contracts. So much for competition in the open market.
Products used:I currently have Straighttalk services on my phone. If this poor connection keeps up, I'll probably go with another phone carrier.
Date of experience: February 2, 2024I purchased a brand new straight talk cell phone from Walmart. Activated the phone. It's never worked. I have called straight talk numerous times. Still have not fixed the problem. Then I was told I had to get another cell phone with another number, so the corporate office technician could fix my new cell phone. Within three days, I called them over ten times. I bought another new cell from straight talk. I just had it activated. Had same problems. I called in. Thank God they fixed the issue. But the first new cell. My work phone, still doesn't work. Customer service, stated it was not activated correctly. I used the customer service activation. So now. I have to wait 24 hours. For then to reactivate my brand new sim. In my brand new phone. Another day without work. Then if that doesn't work. They want me to wait another 5 days so they can mail me a new sim. Instead of just going to Walmart and buying one.

Date of experience: January 20, 2024I called and refilled my service on March 7. They charge me twice because they "automatically puts you back on AutoPay". WRONG! You do not have the right to do that. So, I paid for 2 months, which puts my service through May 2. Okay, I can live with that. Then, they charged me again on April 5, AFTER I told them DO NOT PUT ME ON AUTOPAY. I again removed myself from AutoPay, however, now they will not honor the additional month. I am currently disputing it with my bank as I have paid for 3 months now and only have 2 months of service. DO NOT purchase a card over the phone. Buy one at Walmart and do it yourself. They are thieves! I am seriously considering going back to AT&T, and that is a whole other headache in itself. I just want a simple phone and should not have these issues.
Tip for consumers:Absolutely horrible and this is fraud. I will pursue further.

Date of experience: April 9, 2024Worst customer service department I've ever dealt with by far. I haven't spoken to anyone with an English accent yet that I can understand. They kept me on hold for over 50 minutes and then disconnected me twice. Still have not solved my issue.
Tip for consumers:Do yourself a favor, and choose a different company.

Date of experience: October 1, 2022They're trying to double charge me for a payment already made and was rude kept hanging up in my face and will not let me speak to Supervisor. I called them multiple times even with proof they still did not care,.
Date of experience: August 27, 2023My auto-refill should have been 265.00 but I was charged 807.77. It took 3 long phone calls and 4 days before anyone could tell me what happened. I still have not seen and refund on my credit card. This is simply highway robbery. There was no apology or compensation for the finance charge I will have to pay on my credit card. This is a terrible company to deal with, we will change to something else as soon as our time is up.

Date of experience: July 27, 2023Was told we could use this on Xbox, you can't. Called to cancel service, had no problem knowing I was out my $50, but the only way they can cancel is for me to go to the bank and issue me a new card with a different number. REALLY! Pathetic…
Date of experience: July 26, 2023This company works with third party but doesn't have their information put together because they will give your information over to anyone. You're a customer paying faithfully for straight talk for them to tell me I don't have an account with them someone else does poor service and this company is fraud.
Date of experience: September 8, 2022I can't speak to the actual service because I've not been able to get my connection settings setup to allow me to use anything other than Wifi. Customer service is nonexistent. Steer clear of this business.

Date of experience: February 10, 2021Last Sunday I spoke with a straight talk customer service agent to set up service and port my existing number from another provider to Straight talk. Today is Wednesday and I have zero phone service and no other telephone options to speak with them directly. I payed for a service pin which was used Sunday during what I thought was the activation process.I just spent a hour texting customer service because I was able to find a wifi signal. Still my phone could not be activated and the only thing the agent could tell me was I need to speak to corporate. I was absolutely ripped off by this Walmart supported phone provider.I am on the road in Colorado and now have no way to communicate with my aging parents or my potential new employer who thinks I fell off the edge of the earth. This has been a hustle of deception and lies right out of the gate. Do yourself a favor and do not even consider Straight talk to provide you with any service.

Date of experience: September 20, 2023Unreasonable and unfair! They do not care about theirs customers. I bought 4 phones for my kids and then went to cricket cause it's the same service I use. After purchasing 4 sim cards and services for $300, straight talk blocks cricket from switching our phones over to cricket. Claiming we have to be with them a year before switching and if not it will cost over $130 for each phone. I never signed no contract with them! We bought it from Walmart and was only buying prepaid mins. I explained to them cricket refuses to give our money back, not even credit. They didn't care! How we're we suppose to know! Now we're stuck with 4 worthless phones and 4 worthless sim cards. NEVER buy a phone with straight talk unless you want to be stuck with them a whole year! There won't be NO WARNING
Tip for consumers:Never buy a straight talk phone! They don't care how you feel or what you spent. Selfish!!
Products used:None. The phone is worthless.
Date of experience: July 9, 2022If anything goes wrong or you need to make any significant changes to your plan, you can expect the worst customer service of your life. I was required to engage in a 45 minute call to customer service just to de-activate the auto-refill feature! I can not access my account information online to make any changes, and when I request a chat with customer support, there are 93 people ahead of me in the cue! It is certainly worth paying another $10-$20 per month with another carrier to avoid Straighttalk.

Date of experience: January 31, 2022What's all the whining about? I've used straight talk on three different phones now and have had zero problems and very normal cell service. I've traveled over most of the US and like all cell service there are holes in the coverage map. It's Verizon's network anyhow.
Can't say the same for the "home phone" plan, but I'd dump the "land line" if my wife didn't want to keep it.

Date of experience: December 21, 2022I called 6 different times to fix the same problem. Every call lasted an hour with them getting no where and saying they would call back which they didn't. So ending result the 2 line card I purchased only paid for one phone line, that's 35$ down the drain. As well as 40 to purchase different service for my phone before it got deactivated! Never get any kind of 2 or more line service plan card from them!
Tip for consumers:Before they changed these cards to 75 instead of 90 I never had a problem with a 2 line plan card. Why? Can't they just leave things alone, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
