We ordered 2 "in-stock" items for pickup from local store. These are Christmas gifts. Later order is cancelled, but Joann offers free shipping for order online. So we order those 2 items online on Dec 10. Website shows that shipping labels are created on Dec. 15 and 17 respectively, but USPS has still not received either of the items by Dec. 18. Joann sends us an email that items are being shipped. But why do I suspect that the items are NOT IN STOCK, and that Joann wants to fool us into thinking that they are shipping the items so that they do not lose the sale to a competitor.

Date of experience: December 12, 2024The store is absolutely disgusting. The floors are dirty and streaked with who knows what. But worst of all at least 10 aisles were completely blocked with bins of merchandise. Last time I went I thought it was bad and there were maybe two aisles blocked. I've had bolts of fabric fall on me because the shelves are not stable.
Tip for consumers:Other Joann stores are cleaner and have enough employees to keep up with the merchandise. This one is closest to my house, but I can’t come back. The grossness and stuff blocking the aisles stresses me out.

It automatically sent the order without me given the opportunity to review the information. It chose an address that I no longer live at. Attempting to contact customer service told me that the order cannot be altered or canceled after submitting and I would have to wait until it ships for a refund

Date of experience: April 17, 2024I've been watching a certain piece of fabric. A friend told me it was not currently marked down so that meant I could use my 50% off coupon. Living in Maine means there are not many fabric store options. I drove 40 minutes to topsham and got it cut only to find out it didn't count. It was 25% off. No sign. I was told their printer was broken. I think that means they should have whipped out a marker and made the appropriate signs or accepted the coupon. I consider this deceptive advertising.
Date of experience: February 24, 2024Ordered 14 items online for pick up at nearest store. Card billed in minutes. 2 hours later got email saying "part" of order was ready for pick up. Order detail showed 13 of the 14 items were unavailable, refund pending. The 1 available item is useless without the unavailable items. Called customer service to just cancel order. Was told they can't/won't cancel orders. Best to go to store, pick up item and immediately return it. That will be a 40 mile trip for me wasting my time and gas. Tempted to just not pick up the single item and see what happens at the end of the "will hold your order for 5 days" period. Bet I'd be screwed out of my $12.99. Too many other reputable stores out there to have to deal with a shady company like Joann.
Date of experience: February 10, 2024I placed an order online line using a joann gift card. Never received. Contacted customer service and was told they could not trace gthe order using the gift card number or my name. I was angry and let him know. When I went to place the order again, but for pick up at store, my gift card was empty. There was 20+ dollars on the card, now it is zero. Because I was angry, they emptied my card for spite. Shame on you joann fabrics.

Date of experience: April 12, 2024I needed to write this review to hopefully wake Joann's up. I recently ordered 3 skeins of yarn and 3 different sizes of sewing machine needles. My order was sent out by item. Yes can you believe it!
One package of sewing machine needles came in a LARGE plastic mailing bag. I then received 3 boxes about 14 inches long, 1 with 2 skeins of yarn, 1 with one skein of yarn and 1 with two packages of sewing machine needles in it. All the boxes were packed full of brown paper to take up the room. Silly thing was any one of these containers would have held the entire order without the addition of the brown paper to take up the space. Joann you need to rethink your shipping methods! This kind of waste is why our landfills are filling up.!

He asked them to check the cameras so they could apologize but they refused so he asked for a different PIC and they said nope and told him dont come back in w a sticker or w out proof of purchase

Two of the items were wrong size.Then Top it off they charged my card Twice.So instead of order being 25 bucks ended up taking 50 off my card.Then when I called customer service I was told had to wait 7to 10 businesses days for the money be put back on my card.
Date of experience: February 19, 2024I ordered 4 yards of fabric and entered a coupon code. The site said my order came to $12.17 with shipping (no sales tax on fabric in my state) but as soon as I hit accept and pay my credit card origination beeped and said I had been billed for $33.15 I take screen shots when I buy things so I remember to keep track of credit card purchases. I sent the screen shot to customer service expecting to get a refund but was told it was a "pricing error" and they aren't going to fix it. So what they are saying is the site can tell you that you owe one amount and then charge you for a completely different amount.

Date of experience: March 26, 2024I purchased a large order from this Joanns in Franklin, TNand was told they didn't have the people to put the merchandise out. When I picked up in store 3/4 of it was not there. I paid using another party, now I can't get a refund for items I didn't get. They do not answer their customer service number. The manager hung up on me twice because she could t figure out how to place the phone on hold. All I want is my money back for the items they did t have and no one will help! I will never ever shop Joann's online or in store ever again!
Tip for consumers:Just because they have the merchandise online doesn’t mean they have it in the store. Even though I it was new spring things and their store showed they had over 50 in stock!

Date of experience: January 29, 2024This business has recently blocked me again from buying online and getting the best discounts they offer. I buy a lot of yarn and I also sell the yarn on Amazon. Others sell the yarn they buy from Joann's, Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc. There will always be people that does this. We sell the yarn at a higher price to people that don't have a craft store in their town. Joanns is not threatened here. Sellers like me buy shopping carts of their yarn. You'd think that would please them. It keeps them in business. I wrote a review before and then they let me buy online like others again. Now they decided to take that option away again! This store plays games with everyone! Not just me. They don't deserve any business! Michaels has never done that to me.
Date of experience: February 23, 2024This company is a farce! They aren't truthful with their customers. They let you believe you can use the coupons they have on their app but only at times. They play games with the customers. I did an online order to pick up store that went through. A little later it gets canceled. I even went in the store to see if they had it and they did. This has happened several times. The stores are always disorganized. And no one can give you a reason why these things happen in the stores. Very poor business! Michaels is way more respected.

Date of experience: February 10, 2024I would like to thank the store at 6910 S Lindbergh Blvd, St Louis, Mo *******! They are always there to help you without any of the games that other stores play; ex: Joanns in Ballwin, Mo. I live by the Ballwin store but I will make the drive as much as possible to the Lindbergh one. When they show a number of yarn pieces in their store and you order it; that's what you get. Joanns Company's website was down and that seems to happen a lot. Especially if they're offering a good discount/ coupons etc. But Abbe was such a Angel and told me not to worry she will hook me up. This store has always went over and beyond without the game playing! So does Joanns in Washington, Mo./ 1976 Charlottes Way, Washington, Mo *******. They are an amazing store as well with Great customer service and no games.

“Broken merchandise”

I purchased an oliso iron from them for someone for Christmas. The box was open when I received it. They refuse to take it back. They say it policy, because it is open. I received it open and they don't take electrical items back. If you don't take them back then you shouldn't sell it. If we receive it broken especially. This is bull crap. And I won't purchase anything else from them except their cheap fabric in store only. No more online orders.

Date of experience: February 6, 2024I made an order online. They shipped in multiple packages, some are still on the way and those that arrived brought negative emotions and disappointment only.
Beading needles came in opened package, one needle eye is broken. I tried submitting review regarding low quality control, but it didn't get through. Joann sent email asking to EDIT my review to "match their guidelines" if I want it to be posted. It had no strong language, false, private or not related to their service information. I gave it another try, rephrased and shortened it, hope it'll pass "moderation" and save others from having similar experience.
Customer service representative was nice, but said in order for them to replace broken item, I'll have to place a completely new order, pay for the item and shipping, and then contact them. I decided to pass and went for refund, not replacement.
Now I don't know what to expect from part of the order that is still on the way...
Tip for consumers:it'd be probably safer to go for in-store purchase instead of ordering online

Got to the register requested a manager who claimed that there was nothing she could do. I have worked in retail for over 15 years and am well aware that she can punch in her little numbers to put to the discount in period do not shop at this location. False advertisement an awful management
Date of experience: August 2, 2020I'd been ill so I ordered items for curbside pickup 3 different times in the last few weeks. All 3 times one or more of the items was not actually in stock at the store, so those items were cancelled. The next time I went in person, I spoke to the store manager about the poor quality of their inventory control data and he brushed me off saying he had no responsibility for what the web site says, then he walked away.
Yes, the selection is good, but the wait to get fabric cut can be very long (you take a number), and the management isn't effective or polite. This store is at the bottom of my list for quilting and embroidery materials.

Date of experience: November 23, 2022I placed an order at Joann.com with 10 items including two pieces of fabric on 11-8-2023. It is still processing. I have called twice. Two excuses were given, both on the flimsy side. Just ridiculous.

Date of experience: November 23, 2023I have yet to receive the remainder of the order I placed in November. As many other people have stated, they no longer accept calls, so the only way you can contact them is through email. When I was able to talk with someone is customer service in mid December, the person disregarded my valid points and literally attempted to deny me the right to speak with her superior regarding the issue. I will NEVER order anything from Joann again! They refused to let me cancel my order when I asked to do so because of the huge delay, which is unheard of from a big business like theirs. I cannot see them lasting much longer. Inasmuch as I like the convenience of their brick and mortar stores, this experience with my online order and reading what everyone else's has gone through, has really embittered me towards the company as a whole.

Who does that to a customer? I refuse to online/delivery ever again. Takes too long, my last delivery ended up in another state. Bad customer service.

Shop at my local Joann store frequently and always receive great customer service. Now I can say that their online service and product is excellent as well

Thanks to Morgan from the Michigan City store, for approximately 2 hours, tried to find out why my friend did not receive her order. She was on the phone during all this time calling different numbers until she received an answer. Finally Morgan was able to settle the reason and my friend was able to receive her order. Thank you Morgan from Joann's Michigan City, IN store for your time and help to straighten this situation.
