Dell Home Review
I have been buying Dells for over 35 years. I hate - no I absolutely LOATHE - my new Dell XPS.
1. They snuck in a non-free subscription to McAfeee. I don't want McAfee! I use Norton on all my devices. I forced them to refund that charge, but I get annoying and aggressive MaAfee pop ups at random and inconvenient times when I am trying to work.
2. My PIN malfunctions consistently and I need to do a 2FA just to sign in to my workstations.
This machine stinks. I'll never buy a Dell again.
Date of experience: December 16, 2024We bought 2 refurbished computers from them. We have had problems with them since we got them. We had McAfee with them. We have had problems no matter what browser we used with 4 lines on them. I requested help with Microsoft support and they told me to follow this:Steps to Perform In-place in Windows 11.1. Go to this link - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11
2. Select Windows 11 (multi-edition ISO) under Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) and click "Download" 3. Select the product language > Click "Confirm" > Click 64-bit Download
4. Wait for the download to complete
5. Once the download is complete, go to download folder > right-click the downloaded file (Windows 11 ISO) and select "Open with Windows Explorer" 6. Double-click the "Setup"
7. Follow the on-screen instruction. Instruction. Once the ISO file is downloaded, follow these steps:
1. Open the ISO file.2. Double-click on the Windows 11 ISO file.3. Open the file and scroll down to find "Setup."4. Double-click on "Setup."5. Accept the terms and conditions to start the update process.
6. The Windows installation will begin.7. Once the installation is complete, your system will restart, and your issue should be resolved. Nope. Link to get back. Nope, link to self help. Not worth the money!

Date of experience: December 20, 2024Started out good with my Inspiron 3020 then one port went out in the first six months of having it and then another one. So two ports went out within a year of owning it. I suspect they turned themselves off to save power because that box was ticked (I unticked it) but I don't know how to get them turned back on and their fake tech support (they want a job but they don't want to do the job but yet wabt to get paid to do nothing) was no help. They jumped straight to remote access, sending it back to them to fix (nothing ever comes back from repair better then it was sent for repair everyone knows that) or having someone come to my house. Very sus that they are dying to get their hands on it. It's been discontinued but that doesn't mean it's not for sale. I am pretty sure after this awful experience I will not be buying dell for my next computer purchase and it's their own fault. I used to recommend dell and now I do not.
Tip for consumers:Buy anything else

Date of experience: November 12, 2024I bought a laptop about four years ago and of course it can't be updated to Windows 11 so it's going to be a worthless block of crap at the end of 2025. I got a laser printer from Dell years ago and about one year ago, I got a message on the printer that said "091-402 Printer Near End Of Life". So I went out and bought a new printer. That new printer that I bought from Dell is still in the box and I still have the same message on my Dell laser printer. All I had to do, a year ago, to get the printer working again was to reset the wifi access using the button on my router. So their Stupid printer got me to spend more money at Dell for nothing. Then I couldn't get Dell support assist to work on the laptop. So one of their troubleshooters told me to delete Dell management services from services.msc. I did that and I've never been able to get it back. So support assist is now useless on the laptop but it also is so incredibly slow to do anything. When there is a Windows 10 update which is about every 10 days, it takes the good part of a day for the update to install. I don't care if they have AI or ZI on their new computers I wouldn't touch one. At one time years ago, they were the go to company for computers. Their products are so much trouble i'll never get another one. And their customers service stinks now. It used to be the best in the business.

Date of experience: December 8, 2024My experience with Dell is horrendous, They simply do not care for the retail customer.
I bought an Inspiron laptop in 2023 and spent nearly £1,000. The track ball pad went after two months and then failed roughly every month after that, Dell replaced the keyboard and track ball 6 times, each time sending an engineer out, I got to know the guy and he said this is what Dell do, think what they are doing, eventually I got a refund and like a tw*t a bought the latest Dell Inspiron in April 2024, and yes, the wifi card failed after 4 months.
I created a support request giving the order number and date as well as the service tag number on the laptop and in the BIOS, Dell said it was the wrong Tag number as they didn't have it on their system and refused service despite sending a photo of the service tag and screen shot of the BIOS and copy of the invoice, this was 14 weeks ago and they still refuse support, so I have a Dell door stop?
Dell have also refused to replace the computer, as they say they do not have a similar spec computer which is a total lie as the Inspiron range still uses the same processor, the computer is only 7 months old and under Dell Warranty which isn't worth the paper it is written on.
They have now agreed a refund, but I have lost 3 months use of the computer and paid for a single licence for Microsoft Office which I cannot transfer, and they refuse to compensate, they simply couldn't give a damn about what they have messed up, this is an Admin fault on their behalf which they refuse to put right, yet they acknowledge it is their fault.
Trying to deal with a 3rd world customer support service where the Indian operators follow scripts is very frustrating, so anyone thinking of buying a Dell should look at their customer service reviews on Trustpilot
DELL gets 1.3% on Trustpilot Reviews from 2961 reviews. How many large companies get so many poor reviews, yet still operate in the same couldn't care less attitude. A company to avoid.
Date of experience: November 20, 2024Keyboard digits wore away in less than…dell give it a miss
Keyboard digits wore away in less than 12 months on my laptop customer service tells me that is normal wear on a back lit keyboard but i can bye a replacement keyboard for almost £70 i hung the phone up before i heard the price for fitting it, so this is my verdict/opinion of dell
1/ dell uk laptop keyboards are shi*te
2/dell uk laptop after sales is sh*te
2/ dell uk help is crap
3/ dell uk laptop keyboards are crap
4/ dell like so many UK companies think they can make more money selling crap to loyal customers

Date of experience: September 22, 2024Tried to purchase a new computer but just wasted 4 hours. Took 1 hour to order computer and separate larger hard drive. Computer came with no drive. No instructions on installing separate drive and no screws to install. After 3 hours over 2 days on the phone with tech support and customer disservice (neither could speak understandable english) I gave up and sent it back. Went to Best Buy and had a good experience.
Tip for consumers:Go to Best Buy in person.

Date of experience: March 21, 2023Dell sent me a refurbished laptop that was sold as new. It had problems from the beginning and I ended up wasting hours with tech support who could barely speak English, were rude, and often kept me on hold until I was disconnected. The $1500 laptop stopped working after 2 weeks. Guess what, that's the cut off for refund. I asked for a replacement. They refused. I explained that I was sold a dud, they didn't care. Turns out, they do this to hundreds of people and give no recourse. Just check the reviews on their headquarters. Now to top it off we find out Micheal Dell is a terrorism supporter who funds genocide. Absolutely no reason to buy from this company ever again. I've tell everyone I come across not to buy from them. Boycott crooked terrorists.

Date of experience: January 28, 2024I have an XPS Desktop. Support Assist is a joke and Customer support is pathetic. I think they work from home and hate to be bothered. The average "support assist" person does not seem really bright, every once in a while, I get a one that seems knowledgeable but can't really help with anything and provides sympathy!

Date of experience: February 16, 2024Only leaving one star because i cannot leave zero. Bought a 32 inch monitor on 4/12 for next day delivery. UPS failed to deliver and I was promised a full refund.
Remember that I have not seen or touched the item.
Keep being fobbed off with different excuses every time I call.
No other option now to take this down the small claims route and let everyone know what a bad company they are
Date of experience: January 4, 2024Purchased a web cam during Cyber Monday for $69
Product was 2 days late on delivery by DHL
Week later price for same webcam is $59. I called customer service to get price difference.
Customer service told me they cant match price difference for 1 day sales.
Ok fine I will return the product and never purchase from Dell again.
Because it seems that cost of return shipment is worth more to them for an open product? Really poor business decisions on whoever is setting online pricing.

Date of experience: December 6, 2023Tried to use Dell Rewards (dollar value), a Dell Gift Card, and my Dell Financing ("Dell Pay") at checkout. Impossible. Their system cannot compute this aggressively simple task. This site and this company are now completely inept. All hope is lost, for Dell. I give them 5 years tops to go bankrupt or get acquired.
Tip for consumers:Go elsewhere. Anywhere else.
Products used:None. Dell.com too inept to complete the transaction.

Date of experience: December 4, 2023Ordered several items in early december, showed all items in stock, several days later was notified one of the items was delayed and would arrive by end of month. Was notified again item not available till early new year. Tried to call, no calls accepted only and terrible customer service wannabe agent in India via email. Only bought this junk because Amex Platinum gives me 200 dollars every six months credit with dell *(promotion). Because of this horrible companies lack of customer service and inaccurate website this caused me the credit of 200 as items would have been delivered by end of year. Absolute crap company.
Tip for consumers:Worst company I have ever dealt with.

Date of experience: January 8, 2024I spent over $3000 on a new Alienware computer, and it breaks every other month. I've had to send it in each time, and support doesn't help at all. Each time it's some random issue, and each time they completely wipe my hard drive, and I lose some important piece of data that didn't make it into the backup.
The chassis is crappy plastic, which is terrible for a computer this expensive. And the worst part is, the "support service" costs $150 a year, and I need to keep paying for it just to keep my computer running.
Save yourself some trouble, don't buy a Dell. I've never had these kinds of problems with HP or Apple.
Update: I installed Linux on it and at least now it's not breaking every other month. But the battery doesn't hold a charge anymore so I have to keep it plugged in at all times.

Date of experience: December 18, 2023Ordered something that I thought was sold by Dell but turns out their site is a 3rd party seller app as well. It said shipped but got lost and they refuse to refund my money. It's been a month and they still claim they wil refund. Have to call my bank to reverse the charges. It's a total scam. Do not order anything from them.

Date of experience: December 4, 2023Their products have issue the first year of buying them. Followed by crappy support that refuses to assist you. Warranty does not cover the battery what so ever and is a waste of money. They give you a run around when you try getting help for any issue till the warranty runs out to then tell you that you must buy the parts which cost hundreds. They also delete any Service Request Details so you can not argue anything and you wont have proof about your conversations with their agents.

Date of experience: December 8, 2023I bought the Alienware computer for my son. Mind you I payed over 4000.00. Plus the money I payed for extended warranty. We open the monitor and it's broken. No worries. We got the warranty so it should be an easy exchange. Nope. I have spent over a week in the phone with them with zero help. They passed me around to multiply people which they all asked for a picture which I sent 3 Dell employees. Once again they ask me to email them another picture holding a paper up with my claim number. I send them all the info they need in Dec. 28 and on Jan 2 still no response. So I get to call the customer service line again with zero help. Supposedly it's now been put on a rush response and I will recieve an email in 3 business days but still no replacement. Like I said terrible customer service. First time buying anything from Dell and more than likely will be the last.

Date of experience: January 2, 2024June 2022 My company bought a new Dell server and work stations. We spent over $20,000.00 for this system. Finally in November 2022 the system was delivered. Finally after the first of the year 2023 dell sent us a project coordinator., to hook up the system. Although Dell didn't send us everything we needed or ordered. So its March 7 2023. Its been 10 months since we ordered the system. NONE WORKING SYSTEM. Dell has there server department in India. The people that work in that department have very broken English, nobody from this company can understand them. They also want us to sit on the phone with them for 8 hours. We are trying to run our own business. Not trying to do Dells work for them. Finally the system is out of the boxes. Looks pretty, but it does not work. BIG PAPER WEIGHT.
Tip for consumers:Dont buy anything from Dell

Date of experience: March 7, 2023I would not recommend to buy dell laptop. Worst than any other vendor. They say something on the description and but reality is something else. There warranty support is all fake. They usually replace used part in there dell support center. They will not replace your laptop even though it has manufacturing defect. They will not accept and keep repair till your warranty expire. After that they will simply say sorry nothing can be done. You have only option to buy another expensive warranty.
No one there to listen your problem.

Date of experience: January 11, 2024The product is bad quality. Recent purchase required change of touch screen, keyboard and speakers.
The speakers continue not working and now they will change the motherboard.
I asked for an option to leave a review and the answer was the following "It seems the reviews are closed for now, you can contact Dell Care after a few months and check."
No Dell reviews. You cant trust the product.

Date of experience: January 9, 2023Ordered computer on 8/9 and Fed Ex "lost" the shipment. Today is 8/24 and the replacement computer has not been shipped. Customer service rep called me 8/21 and said it was the highest priority and he would get back to me within 24-48 hours. Radio silence. Try to call and recording says the department is closed. It is 10:30 CA time. Spent $1,000 and have nothing to show for it. Next step is to call my credit card. I have never ever experienced such horrible customer service. Apparently the customer is not important to Dell!
