  • Chemistry.com Review

It's a time-waster and very often it turns out to be money scam. Men/women ratio is terrible (for men). It's supposed to be free, but free options don't really work. Too many fakes and freaks. Absolutely no profile verification. I am not saying that you can't find anyone serious on Chemistry, maybe you can, but it's such a time-taking process with incredibly high risks of coming across a con artist preying on your money. They send you automatic computer-generated messages. You communicate with bots, not with real women. So it's better to just stay away from this scam! Date of experience: June 7, 2021
This site is a joke! I found maybe 10 gay women that were listed as matches total. I emailed demanding a refund and company had the nerve to say because I sent an email out they cannot refund my account! Umm-Yeah I attempted to see if any profiles were even real! Serious scam artists so do not waste your time or money! Date of experience: November 4, 2017
Im not going to say what most people do and go on about how great Chemistry is. Im happy with it, sure, but its no better than the other site I use for setting up dates (WeJustFit.com). The thing about Chemistry is its almost becoming a victim of its own success because you expect to find love in a short time and if you dont your disappointed! I like the site a lot but its been months and im still as single as a pringle go figure! Anyway, Chemistry will prob always be number 1 but dont be scared to see what else is available would be my advice. John, 36 Date of experience: January 23, 2017
A while ago a friend of mine talked me into signing up to Chemistry.com. Turned out to be a very bad Idea. Nothing but damaged people that just really wanted to hook up. About two weeks before my one-year anniversary with this horrible site, I got very sick with the flu which required a hospital stay. You see, I have chronic asthma which makes having the flu a very dangerous situation. So anyway, when I got home, I discovered that without my knowledge they renewed my subscription which means they charged me 170.00. When I called them an explained what happened and told them that I would be glad to prove that was very sick the man on the phone in a rude and sarcastic way told me that it didn't matter if I was sick or not. When I politely pleaded with him some more, he quickly said goodbye and hung up on me. In my humble opinion using my First Amendment Rights If I was you I would stay away from this "company", they have no compassion and no ethics. Date of experience: January 19, 2020
I don't like it when the details of my life become well known. Not that I have anything to hide from anyone, but when they start talking about your life, it's not always pleasant. Tips for not being a lonely person. So I decided to turn to the most secure and secure portal, where I can communicate freely without compromising my privacy. Currently, I am satisfied with the service, which guarantees the privacy and quality of my client. Service Value Quality Date of experience: August 22, 2021
Suddenly now bogus text messages started arriving from a dating site which I had never signed up for... is Chemistry.com owned by match.com? What crap... can't these companies be banned for fraud? Here's the format of one such message" "Txtme*******O27 is interested in getting to know you and has sent you an email" Of course, there is no "unsubscribe" link and if one clicks on "change my e-mail options" there is no possibility to "unsubscribe". Anything which one undertakes to get off of their spam list requires log in. Date of experience: September 20, 2016
I signed up for one month. Canceled in two weeks. I had 7 scammers. Only a couple legit men. The scammers were all "Widowers", mushy emails to me. Then ask for my phone number and email address. I said, "I would rather communicate through the Chemistry.com website." Never heard from them again. Watch out ladies, more scammers out there than real men looking for a partner. Fraudulent website -- never been on or signed up for Chemistry.com or Match.com and received an 'interested in you' email from chemistry.com. I got off eHarmony 3 yrs ago and been married for 2 years. Chemistry.com must have hacked into eHarmony and stolen my old profile and email. Chemistry.com should be sued and shut down! Wont diss Chemistry too much as I aint sayin its a total disapointment but still think it could be a lot better. If you tried hookuphangout.com you'll know what im saying, yo! Loving that action so far! Boom! Date of experience: October 12, 2016
This is not the worse dating site on the market but it aint the best either (I personally like wejustfit.com). The main thing is that it's free and that makes it busy. But does it have the right type of people, the type of people that you want to date and take home to your parents? I'm not convinced. Maybe it's just like that in my area or whatever but I think lazy people who aren't that focused on finding true love use simple mobile apps whereas the guys like me that want to find a lasting relationship use other sites to get dates. That's my take on it. Darren G Date of experience: January 22, 2018
Absolute scam! The site is heavily infected. Within 2 week of joining, I received over 50 bogus e-mails or "winks" from woman whose "accounts are no longer available." Then there was the proliferation of bogus and inane e-mails from woman who wanted you to contact them on separate e-mails - probably foreign-based. Worst on-line dating experience ever for me and I have been on multiple sites over the years. Due to their affiliation with Match.com (which up-sells the site) they are somehow able to survive with minimal quality control. Also, they don't stand behind their product and will not refund when hearing about the ongoing and unrelenting product issues. STAY AWAY! Date of experience: July 6, 2014
This site is awful. 12 of 14 contacts have been scammers - really! The site admin will not response when you complain and try to get your money back. Honestly I've tried about 5 different dating sites, this one is by far the very worst! Date of experience: August 7, 2015
Chemistry is the worst dating site I've been on. There system for matching is a joke. An ad for it popped up while I was on another site. For a lark, I filled out the ridiculous, pseudo-scientific questionnaire. Then I was signed up. I called them; I wanted to redo my "test," but NO (not allowed because "your 1st response is the most accurate"). Problem with this and other sites is they match you up as well as possible, then start sending you matches you have nothing in common with (except location)? Really! I am an atheist, I don't want to see Baptists or conservatives. Good point is that (unlike match.com), I complained and they refunded my money). Tip for consumers:The method used for matching is pseudoscience, IMO. Would not let me retest, even though I jokingly took it. Service Value Quality Date of experience: August 18, 2014
Be very cautious on this site. The profiles are not checked. Basically, anyone can join. When free weekend is promoted, every non- English speaking person gets on here. They are scammers and fakes. Every young woman should stay away from here. Look at other sites and read the reviews. Date of experience: March 23, 2015
Can't say that it changed my life, though I met some interesting people here so, thanks for that and hopefully someone else will find here his/her soulmate! Date of experience: June 16, 2020
Don't go there! Waste of money! I was on it for 3 months. Got nothing! They don't have any active members. Their matching services is awful, they don't care about your preferences at all. Stay away from it! Date of experience: August 26, 2013
I signed up today, filled out the questionnaire. I subscribed for a month. They send you a pump-you-up feel good profile. Immediately you get a half-dozen emails saying so-and-so is interested, you have new mail, etc. When you try to look at the profiles, they are all "no longer available". Later when I tried to log on again, the site would not let me back on and kept telling me to subscribe all over again. What a waste. Date of experience: October 4, 2013
I discovered this weekend that www.chemistry.com has been charging my credit card since 12/1/13. There have been 21 unauthorized transactions against my credit card. I called them today. The confirmed that NONE of the information on file (name, e-mail address, city, state, zip code) associated with my account was accurate. I have no idea how my bank authorized the transactions. Nevertheless, they REFUSED to refund the 21 fraudulent transactions. Their business model appears to be based on fraudulent recurrent credit card charges. Date of experience: September 14, 2015
I have had the same experiences as "William P". My computer keeps telling me that this site is not safe to use?! What is going on here?! I have been using this site in the past and I liked it but now it seems like I need to use some other dating site. Has anyone ever used Mingle2day? It seems to be one of the best sites. Or what about Match? I think it is associated with Chemistry so is this a great alternative? Date of experience: March 15, 2016
I agree that this site is a big waste of money and I can't believe its associated with Match. I really liked the personality test, but it went downhill from there. In two months I met one normal person. Most of the men had good profiles but couldn't write well after we started communicating, which led me to believe they were not in the US. They also wanted to correspond by email or texting right away, another red flag. Date of experience: January 6, 2015
Literally within 30 min. Of me signing up I received a scam email. It has continued on a daily basis for two weeks. It's absolutely unacceptable that you pay money for to get scammed. I've written to the site, and of course there is no reply. Stay away. Date of experience: October 19, 2013
Chemistrys user data base has been hacked or they are selling personal user information. During the past year or so every time I log on to Chemistry I immediately receive several pay for play or or porn type invitations on my personal e mail account. Lately I have been getting e mails on Chemistry using my real name. There is no way other users could have gotten this except through Chemistrys member data base. I tried to live chat with a Chemistry customer service rep about this and she rudely terminated the chat. Date of experience: February 27, 2016
The website's functionality is compromised. I get email notifications with links to the site, but then the site is down and/or the notifications are inaccurate. The customer care is deplorable. The live chat agents (and I'm not sure if I should even use the plural here) take forever to get to you, don't seem to understand plain English, provide obviously canned responses and are unhelpful. Email customer care provided me with an equally canned, equally non-responsive request for help. There is no live customer care. Since I joined the site, it does not seem to me that it has worked properly even once --- a total and complete waste of money. Tip for consumers:Try one of their competitors instead Service Value Quality Date of experience: August 18, 2014
Chemistry.com seems to mostly a place for scammers. I would say 90% of the contacts I receive are from 'text me' accounts that disappear if you want to view them. I few contacts I have had ask for my phone number in the 1st or 2nd message and stop if I decline. Also the matches about 40% of the time are completely opposite my preferences. I advice everyone to stay away! Date of experience: January 31, 2016
I wouldn't recommend this site. Cannot say that it's the worst site ever, but I'd rather choose another one the next time. Date of experience: May 30, 2017
